Belagavi

Belagavi, known as the second capital of Karnataka is also the second largest exporter of goods in Karnataka. The district houses around 51.43 lakh people as of 2020. It has major Aluminium producing companies such as Hindalco and Aditya Birla Group housed in the district. A 300 acre Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is also set up here. Aequs is one of the major aerospace brands operating in this SEZ. A few other notable brands in the district include Vega Helmets, BEMCO Hydraulics, Servocontrols, Polyhydron and more! Belagavi is also the headquarters of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka’s largest university. The defence sector also is strong in Belagavi with training centers like the Commando School, Maratha Light Infantry Regiment Center – MLIRC, the Rashtriya Military School, ITBP and CRPF training center.
